Take a quick tour inside a king bed room in the Alligator Bayou section of Port Orleans Riverside Resort.
On my recent trip to Disney World I was fortunate enough to spend just one night at the Contemporary in a theme park view. The view was excellent and worth the price of the room alone. I can't say the furnishings and amenities of the room itself were any better than other normal hotels I've stayed at.
Disney has released some new details and concept art for the new bungalows and villas going into the reimagined Polynesian Village resort which is still under heavy construction. The 20 bungalows, which are modeled after a south pacific home-like setting, will sleep up to eight and of course will have an incredible view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
Brand new villas will also be added back on land. The 360 deluxe studios will sleep up to five and have split bathrooms like the Disney cruise ships. One section will have a shower/bath and sink and the other will have a sink and shower. They will also have kitchenettes and expanded storage which should make extended stays more comfortable.
The bungalows and villas are Disney Vacation Club properties but will be available to regular guests in the likely rare event they are not occupied.
The Polynesian is a resort I stayed at multiple times as a kid and loved the atmosphere and in recent trips when I got to visit I still loved the environment, despite the construction going on. The bungalows will be a dream place for me to stay. If I could even get a reservation that is.

Disney is testing a new system that will allow for essentially no check-in for guests at select resorts. If all tests go well every resort will have this feature. Disney is allowing guests who have completed online check-in, paid for their stay in full and received Magic Bands prior to their arrival to go straight to their rooms.
With receiving you Magic Bands before your arrival you already have your room key so all Disney has to do is tell you which room to go to. The resorts testing this now are Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside, Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Villas.
The last time I checked-in there was no wait at all, but I have heard of long waits at peak times. This express check-in system seems like a big benefit for those who don't have many special needs.

Keeping up with the incredible theming of their soon to open Cabana Bay resort at Universal Orlando, Universal has revealed the resort's fitness center.
The Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness will be themed around the late fitness icon. Complete with memorabilia and even a statue of LaLanne. Old episodes of LaLanne's TV show will play on screens while you work out.
The more I see and hear about Cabana Bay the better it looks. Anyone planning on staying there any time soon?
