Fulton's Crab House to Become 'Paddlefish' This Fall at Disney Springs

This fall, one of the icons of Disney's shopping and dining district is getting a facelift and a new name. Fulton's Crab House is currently closed for a refurbishment and is expected to open later this year with a completely new decor, outdoor bar and rooftop lounge.

What wasn't expected was a name change. When the riverboat restaurant re-opens it will be called 'Paddlefish'. The name is somewhat ironic because the paddlewheel over 20 years ago when the restaurant had its original name 'The Empress Lilly'.

Disney Announces Ambiguous Dates for Summer Offerings

Disney Announces Ambiguous Dates for Summer Offerings

Over the past few days, Disney has revealed their plans for the coming summer season to the blogging elite. Awaken Summer as they are calling it not only refers to new Star Wars offerings at Hollywood Studios but new additions all around the resort. While most of these announcements might sound familiar, mostly because we knew almost everything that is on the way and some new attractions still haven’t been given firm opening dates, let's try to break down what you can expect to awaken this summer.

Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire has been narrowed down to June from its original summer slot. The stage show replaces Dream Along with Mickey on the Magic Kingdom's castle stage once it is finished its refurbishment. The show will feature new characters, songs, and costumes.

A Disney Junior star will be making their meet and greet debut at the Magic Kingdom. Elena of Avalor is Disney's first Latin princess. Her series will debut this summer and you can begin meeting her this August.

New Images and Details of 'Tiffins' at Animal Kingdom Released

Disney has released some new info on the new restaurant coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom. 'Tiffins' is an Indian word but the cuisine will encompass, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Like the rest of Animal Kingdom, there is an emphasis on immersion in the real world locations they are trying to emulate. The various rooms are described as "a gallery you can dine in". Those galleries are "Asia [Trek Gallery with 74 seats] and Africa [Safari Gallery with 64 seats], and the third [Grand Gallery with 114 seats] pays homage to animal species that the Disney Conservation Fund works to protect.”

Tiffins should be a beautiful place to eat one it is open this summer. My only concern is the menu which has to walk a fine line between accessible and adventurous.

'Toothsome Chocolate Factory' Coming to Universal CityWalk

Universal has revealed what will replace the NBA City restaurant which closed last year. The Toothsome Chocolate Factory & Savory Feast Emporium will bring Steampunk culinary opulence and excess to CityWalk later this year.

The restaurant will try to distract you with their gourmet burgers, steaks, pasta and seafood but the real stars here will be the desserts. You won't be using words like "restrained" or "refined" to describe these overindulgent creations. The pictures below should speak for themselves but let's take a look at the 'Bacon Brittle' milkshake option: "A fun twist on a breakfast favorite with bacon ice cream, bacon brittle, chocolate covered bacon and bacon caramel." and their Red Velvet option is equally superfluous: "A milkshake topped with a Red Velvet cupcake… enough said."

The location will include a retail shop where you can watch chocolate creations be created if you wanted to just stop in and avoid the temptation of a full meal. Toothsome opens later this year at Universal CityWalk.

Review: Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

Review: Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is a vaudeville style comedy show located in Pioneer Hall at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. It is considered the longest running musical in the country. Performing three times a day, seven days a week. The entire experience lasts 2 hours and features a rollicking interactive show and copious amounts of fried foods.

The Show
The show itself features the Pioneer Hall Players, an archetypal group of characters who are in town to perform a special show for you. The comedy in the show is very much in the Disney style. If you aren't a fan of corny jokes then this will not be for you. Most of Disney isn't really for you in that case. I loved every bit of it especially the comedic foil to the group, Six Bits Slocum. There is a large amount of audience participation during the show, including inviting guests up on the main stage. If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or any other special event this would be a fun way to be in the spotlight and to make it a little more special.
