We've known for a while now the upcoming slate of new shops and eateries coming to Disney Springs but today we get word on a twist to a previously known location. First outed by WDWNT, we have official word that the restaurant previously known as "The Hangar" is now Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.
The 150 seat, Disney owned and operated, lounge and bar will be themed to the now Disney-owned franchise, Indiana Jones. Jock Lindsey is Indy's frequent pilot in the film series and himself and Dr. Jones will be referenced throughout the decor. The space will be aviation-themed. Travel posters, propeller-based ceiling fans, and correspondence between Jock, Indy will adorn the hangar. Outside Jock's old steam boat will serve as outdoor seating space. Indy will also be referenced in the menu in such items as the "Rolling Boulder Meatballs".
This was a pleasant surprise for two reasons. One being that "The Hangar" didn't seem like that interesting of a concept on its own. Secondly this is the first time we're seeing new Indiana Jones related developments coming to Disney property. Disney is taking their time with figuring out where to take that franchise. Considering Paramount Pictures still retains the rights to the original films, a reboot seems the most likely course. Maybe Jock Lindsey might become a more memorable character in a new series. Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is set to open this fall.
