The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that several attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios will be closing for good this April. Most notably, Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. Saying goodbye along with it is the Monsters Inc. meet and greet, Studio Catering Co., and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure are all scheduled to close April 2nd.
The original icon of the park, the Earffel Tower, will also be going away as part of the major construction to this side of the park.
Many are attributing these closures to Star Wars land, which is still possible because we don't know where it is going to end up yet, but I think this area is intended for Toy Story Land. Specifically, I think Lights, Motors, Action! is where Cars Land is going to go once it is announced.
The plans for the park, including its new name are still very unclear but all will be revealed in time. I, for one, welcome the new changes to the park. It is going to get a lot worse before it gets better but I think in the end it will be worth it. At least they aren't closing the Muppets! (yet...)
